Know any similar Samurai movies?

I just finished watching Seppuku and I am amazed at what a wonderful piece of cinema this film is. I love how realistic it seemed, how the actions of the characters were likely some taken by samurai at the time. And also the last fight scene being so one sided, was still immensely entertaining.

I've not gotten into samuri movies much. I'm well aquained with most cinema, it's just a genre I've not watched very often. I have seen a couple including the Lone Wolf and Cub series, Yojimbo and Seven Samurai.

I was wondering if anyone can suggest some great Samurai films for me to see, perhaps similar to Seppuku. I'm really looking to see some of the best.

Finally watched Masaki Kobayashi's Samurai masterpiece Harakiri, and incredibly it turned out to be one of my greatest experiences as a cinophile. I finally understood the duality associated with the life of a Samurai and his greatest honor: HARAKIRI or SEPPUKU (the gross act of disembowelment), which is only superficially touched upon in Western productions like The Last Samurai.

CAVEAT: Harakiri is not meant for the faint-hearted.

i thought Samurai Rebellion was even better than Hara-kiri.

I agree, Samurai Rebellion was better. For me, the the story drew me in far better than Harakiri.

I kinda love both equally. Definitely fine companion pieces to one another.

Gosha's 'Three Outlaw Samurai' is one of my favorites. Didn't see it mentioned yet.

This is an old board, but still, I can't believe nobody mentioned Sword of the Beast.

...Or the 1950s Technicolor Musashi Miyamoto trilogy with Mifune:

Samurai I: Musashi Miyamoto
Samurai II: Duel at Ichijoji Temple
Samurai III: Duel at Ganryu Island

Really old thread, but for anyone who just passes by here searching some recomendations, the best (IMO) samurai movie with an anti-bushido message by far would be:

Bushidô zankoku monogatari
