Was this an accurate depiction of treatment back then? it seems so extreme. Aren't alcholics treated with valium nowadays not being tied to a bed? They must have had anticonvusant medicines back then.

AA started in 1935 --- In 1960 there was about 175,000,,,, It's hard to keep track of membership in an Anonymous Organization
