shareTo the OP, that's funny, I was just thinking about this subject, after watching the film recently! :-) If remade, Leonardo Dicaprio as Joe and Claire Danes or Michelle Williams as Kirsten. As Kirsten's father, Christopher Plummer would be excellent.

How about Jack Lemmon's real life son, actor Chris Lemmon?

shareActually, DOWAR is remake of a TV movie from 1959 by the same name, with Piper Laurie and Cliff Robertson. It was quite as good as the theater release version from 1962. The two leads were fantastic, with special kudos going to Laurie.
shareSteve Carell & Reese Witherspoon should play the leads! Then you can label the movie 'From the director of the 40 year old virgin'! - Judd Apatow. Then of course the co-stars would be Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd, David Koechner, and Will Ferrell! I'm being very sarcastic of course but it there anyone else out there that's tired of this crap yet? I heard that the movie version of 'I dream of Jeannie' will be out in 2012. Yay, I can't wait to NOT see it!

Just saw this film in its entirety for the first time tonight. What an outstanding movie. I have always been a huge Jack Lemmon fan.
As for a remake, during the movie I thought Mad Men's January Jones looked just like Lee Remick. She would be good in the Kirsten role.
Leo DiCaprio and Sandra Oh.
