The new Saint?

I would like to throw this out.
If there was to be a Saint show or movie (not like that horrible Val Kilmer movie)--who would you have playing Simon?

I think the Saint should be British.
I thought about Hugh Grant, he may be a little too goofy for this role.

Colin Farrell would probably be quite good, although he's Irish, or how about Nigel Harman from Eastenders. I reckon he's got the right amount of charm and looks, but can also carry off playing a tough character

reply

Ever heard of Paul Rhys? He had a short stint as Simon in BBC radio. Picture here...

This is a no-brainer... Ewan McGregor. He has the charm,
the wit, the sophistication and he's sexy as hell.

reply

Ewan McGregor or Michael Weatherly

Ewan

Ewan would be great as The Saint :)

how about a fine actor called roger moore?

reply

None of the above!

How about george sanders again in the role? i know he is dead, but that shouldn't be much of a problem.

JJ Field?

Jet Li. No, I'm serious, it could be cool. He's handsome, charming, can be funny, and slick. So what if he's asian, it's a global society!

reply

My vote goes to Jet Li or Chow Yun Fat.

reply

Gerard Butler or Hugh Jackman.

I heard a while ago that british television is developing a new Saint series with Roger Moore's son Geoffrey in the title role.

reply

I wish they'd go back to the original Saint books for new versions of the stories. "The Saint in New York" was quite gronal.

Nothing exists more beautifully than nothing.

reply

Rumor has it that Roger Moore's son Geoffrey is aquiring the rights to a new Saint Tv SERIES starring himself.

reply

I agree, Ewan MacGregor would be great. I think Clive Owen would be good in a secret agent role, but am not sure that Simon Templar would be the proper vehicle. I thought Owen would be good as Bond, but Daniel Craig has proven his worth. I would never cast Hugh Grant in a tough guy role; he's too goofy.

James Purefoy would be perfect.

Did anyone see his Mark Antony in "Rome"? Brilliant!

A friend has raved about his "Beaul Brummel" as well

reply

Thought I thuink Hugh Grant is wrong for the Saint he did play a relativly tough role in The Lady And The Highwayman

reply

It will be James Purefoy!

What do you think now? I think it's great news!

reply

I guess that fizzled. I wonder whether there will ever be a new series; although I think Moore will always be the definitive TV Saint. At least based on the earlier, B&W episodes, not the later, color episodes that tended to be inferior.

I just checked, and apparently there's a new Saint TV series in the formative stages:

English actor Adam Rayner is the new Saint. They have just finished making a TV movie with the hope that a TV series will come from the back of this. I really hope it all gose well and they do get a TV series out of this TV movie. I remember back in 1996 they tried to bring back Doctor Who and made a TV movie with the hope that it would turn into a series it did not and we had tro wait till 2005 and a new actor in the role before we got a new series. Lets hope The Saint will not go the same way. I read the plan is to show The Saint TV movie at a film festival and try and get TV stations around the world to buy this and then take it from there. There is a promo for the New Saint on youtube and they have updated they theme tune that was used in Roger Moore 60's TV show and the Val Kilmer movie and also kept the stick man that was in the intro.
