Why did the Clampets move to Beverly Hills?

I never understood why they moved to Beverly Hills. They never adapted to the the rich California life. They didn't seem to even want to live there. Why didn't they just stay in Tennessee and build a big mansion?

Pearl suggested it; Jed figured the climate would be good for Granny, Elly could find a husband, and Jethro could get an education.

Hey joe_538, Thanks goodness for Pearl. If it wasn't for her suggestion, we wouldn't have a show! 

I always thought they said "Californie". Oh well, image dashed.

Damn it, you're right!

Today you can probably look up the first episode on the internet and watch it and see what happens in it.

reply

Yeah, they should have just bought a house in a nice suburb of Nashville.

I like that scene where Pearl tells Jed they have to chop wood and haul water from the creek, plus other hardships. And Jed says you're right, why would I want to leave all this?
