Sad, sad news. First Sir Christopher Lee, now his old school friend Patrick Macnee. June 2015 is officially my worst ever month.
shareFrankly i watched The Avengers more for Diana Rigg, and found the later versions (even with the great Joanna Lumley) rather lacking. But even with Diana the show would have been much less worthy than with the inestimable Patrick Macnee. In other words it was the two of them together that made this such a great show.
I was very sorry to hear of his death. In real life he sounded like he was quite a fellow as well. I suppose it is of some consolation that he died with his family around him.
