Sickening Animal Abuse

I put up with this old fossil of a film until the scene where they set two angry dogs on a tiger, when predictably enough, they proceeded to corner it, and get torn in about the pathetic beast. Revolting. File under Bin.

Not reading the entire thread, but I have to add my voice to the criticism of this film's treatment of animals. Even by the standards of the day it would have been extreme. Not saying the film is unwatchable as a result, but it certainly detracts from the enjoyment.

Fwiw I thought just about ALL of the animal scenes were pointless and un necessary, so the animal cruelty served no worthwhile dramatic purpose anyway, making it especially poignant.

This film was kind to animals compared to The Charge of the Light Brigade (1936). In it 125 horses were trip-wired and 25 had to be put down. It was significant in that it spurred Congress to act.

Jesus... o_O'

People who don't like their beliefs being laughed at shouldn't have such funny beliefs

I'm never seeing that film.

I'm never seeing that film. I mean, I'm not a crazy animal rights person but stuff like that is unforgivable and does make me rage...

Grow up. Times were different.

I have to agree with the op. You can clearly see that the declawed tiger is in distress while being accosted by the dogs.

Now you know how animals act in the real world.

I think it is sensible to not judge this film that was made over 65 years age with today's eyes.

It has be taken in the spirit and time it was made. If you don't like then quite simply don't watch it.
