Kubrick's worst film
Worse than even Fear and Desire! LOL!
shareBetter than "Eyes Wide Shut"!
And really, better than "20O1: a. Space Oddessy".
I'm not a fan of Eyes Wide Shut since we don't have Kubrick's complete film to judge. 2001, I have to disagree.
shareIt's ok if you like "2001", and FYI I spent a lot of time wishing I could like it myself. I had so many of my fellow nerds assure me that it was really profound and if I didn't get it then I wasn't as smart as they were, so I tried. But now I'm old, and I've decided that it's really just an incoherent mess of a movie.
"Spartacus", on the other hand, is everything an epic film should be! Well, almost everything, the ideal epic film wouldn't include Tony Curtis and Kirk Douglas.
Kubrick has quite a few dogs in his kennel. Pseudo-intellectuals will argue differently
shareHe may have been a director for hire on Spartacus but he still brought an energy and intelligence which is missing from most such epics. It's far from his worst film (my pick would be Killer's Kiss).
shareFear and Desire is Kubrick's only truly bad film. Spartacus is a very good movie, just not a great example of KUBRICK film.
shareAnything before the Killing is touch and go
Speaking for on ly myself I have NEVER cared for
2001
A Clockwork Orange
Eyes Wide Shut
The rest border on greatness but don't really make it
Kubrick started in 5 I think but didn't get big until 57 with Paths of Glory, after that ALL his films were at least very good --- Except Eyes Wide Shut --- Which no matter how many times I watch can I get to like
