Is this the best Italian neorealist film?

It is better than 'The Bicycle Thief' and 'Rome, Open City' combined. This is my favorite Italian neorealist film, along with La Strada, but La Strada is maybe not a pure neorealist film.

So, what is your favorite Italian neorealist film?

This is NOT a neorealist film.

Yes it is. Although there are some controversies, I think the general opinion sees Rocco and His Brothers as one of the last neo-realist films -- alongside with Pasolini's Accattone. Besides, if one looks at the aesthetic and contextual trademarks of neo-realism, one will find Rocco among the style. I think this might as well be the best even if it's quite hard to compare with Bicycle Thieves, Umberto D, Rome Open City, Paisa, Ossessione or The Earth Trumbles.
