Better than...

Besides Horror of Dracula, I think Brides of Dracula was better than any Dracula movie Christopher Lee ever made. This movie was first class all the way. I thought it was a great movie and a great follow up to Horror of Dracula. Peter Cushing was there as Van Helsing and the replacement vampire was very well done. Even the ending was great. Very original. Thank God Peter Cushing was there to fight the original ending they were going to use. Originally, bats were supposed to attack and kill the vampires. Thank God Cushing fought for script rewrites. They even made his character more heroic. I liked the fight scene between Van Helsing and the Baron.

I'm very fond of "Horror Of Dracula," "Brides Of Dracula," "Dracula Has Risen From The Grave," and "Taste The Blood Of Dracula."

POSSIBLE SPOILER: As for the original ending you described, it sounds like Hammer used it in "Kiss Of The Vampire," which is another good period piece.

I disagree, this was one of the poor ones in my opinion, rather boring

We agree on something? Nice.

I agree with the OP. This movie is up there with the first Dracula film as one of Hammer's finest.

Lee was a great Dracula, but as a film yes I'd put this above all the other sequels (including the excellent Dracula: Prince of Darkness).

I agree with that. A great looking production, I love the colours, and Cushing is solid as usual as Van Helsing.

As much as I like Lee as Dracula, I'm not really a fan of his Dracula films without Cushing but I can enjoy this with Cushing with Lee absent.
