I can't find any information in the credits on IMDb on who provided the opening narration for the film.

I think it might be William Franklyn. It sounds like him.

Thanks. He certainly seems to have done a lot of voice work. I'll track down some of his other appearances and have a listen.

I read somewhere it was an uncredited George Melly (https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0578155/) - actor, jazz singer and real life brother of Andree Melly who played Gina. It does sound like him.
