What did you rate 'Alligator People' (1959)?

A newlywed's husband vanishes; her search for him takes to her to the Bayou where she discovers the suffering people of the title.

This entertaining movie is serious in tone; but the ludicrous monster at the end is probably the reason behind the low IMDb rating. The silly premise is handled intelligently.

I rated it a 6. What did you rate this movie? And what do you think of it?

I really enjoy this movie, although it isn't great. Lon Chaney really makes it for me.. I give it a 7

I gave it an 8. Very entertaining and didn't overstay its welcome. I like the fact that it had the ethical and moral aspect of psychologists wondering if the woman should stay crazy and happy, or be 'cured' and be most probably miserable.

I gave it a 7. Lots of fun with the monster makeup, the crazy story, Lon Chaney junior chewing up the scenery, and the always-attractive and intelligent Beverley Garland. Right up my alley.

I wouldn't mind watching this movie again. So I've rated it 6/10.

It has a decent cast. It's atmospheric. I love the Louisiana swamp setting. There is a great poster for this movie where it's named 'Uomini Coccodrillo' I expect that would be the Mexican release for this movie.

This is a fun movie that I’ll probably watch again. As many have written, despite its flaws, the story held my interest, the acting was good (read up on the actress who played his mother - the cane was real) and, up until the full-on ‘alligator in khakis’, I thought the half-alligator makeup was ok for a 50s B flick. And come on, Beverly Garland above the title! Funny I had no idea about her pre-My Three Sons career as a youngin’ watch her on it.

A 6 but only because lovely Beverly Garland was in it.
