What snacks did we have while watching the marathon?????

We BBQ'd ribs on the grill. To go with that..... Potato Salad, Deviled Eggs, Coleslaw, Cantaloupe, Watermelon....... various other little munchies....
Strawberry Shortcake later!
We also have our beverages... Beer, Long Island Iced Tea, Vodka/ Cranberry.....
Anything else that someone has brought.....

What have you got?????

reply

Returning home from a long drive, so just cheese-steak subs. they were good though.

reply

Sounds good to me!
Gotta head out now. The fireworks are about to start. Lucky for us, we don't have to go very far. We just go across the street to the ballpark and sit there to watch.
Happy Fourth!

reply

Same to you and your family.

reply

Canadian beer too!

reply

Had a big salad and some salmon for dinner.

Right now, the only food-related activity is slipping a treat to my dog every time loud fireworks go off.

reply

The cat isn't exactly crazy about this noise either! He's hiding under the bed, poor guy..... Gotta go!

reply

Cowboy caviar with tortilla chips, pizzas on the grill, tabbouleh salad, watermelon and tres leeches cake with berries!

reply

Sounds good!
I have to ask.... what is Cowboy caviar????

reply

It's a dip made with black beans, black eyed peas, tomatoes, green onions, tossed with vinegar and oil. No idea where the name came from but's it's great with the chips!

reply

One of my favorites! You can also replace the vinegar and oil with Zesty Italian salad dressing for a more robust flavor, if that suits your taste.

reply

Nice.

reply

KFC but it sucked because the place was out of original recipe and only had extra crispy.

reply

WOW! I haven't had KFC in a few years! We have definitely got to go get us a bucket one of these nights. It seems that whenever we go to get takeout it is usually pizza or subs.
Next time? KFC!

reply

Thanks, it was. I enjoy cooking and everything turned out well.

reply

We had hamburgers, macaroni salad, tomato salad, and cherries for dinner. Our dessert was cheesecake with blueberries and strawberries in the shape of the flag.

reply

I wasn't able to watch because I was at work, but I got a great Bloomin' Onion that night. It was during the time the marathon was on, does that count? ;)

reply

Sorry to go off topic but did you notice they showed the weirdest and I guess creepiest episodes at the latest hour. Talking Tina was on at 11:30 and The Dummy was on at midnight. Two of my favorite episodes along with the one about the little boy controlling everything with his mind. Forgot the name of that episode

reply

Are you referring to "It's A Good Life"?

reply

I had a cocktail a few years back that I didn't even know existed. It was called "Twilight Zone" and consisted of the following:

1/4 oz. Bacardi White Rum
1/4 oz. Bacardi Dark Rum
1/4 oz. Bacardi 151 Proof Rum
1/4 oz. Triple Sec
1 splash(es) Orange Juice
1 splash(es) Pineapple Juice

Combine over ice in a Collins glass. Garnish with pineapple slices and cherries.

reply

Yes.. It's a Good Life

reply

Ok..... I'm lost......
What is a Bloomin' Onion??? I must know!
I confess that I'm an old bag from the mid west. Is that an onion that is seasoned and baked and sort of separates?

reply

They are onions that are cut to look as though they are "bloomin'", breaded, fried, and served with ranch dressing for dipping. Outback restaurants serve them as appetizers, but they are also somewhat common at carnivals (that's where I had mine).

reply

Thanks. I haven't been to a carnival in years..... don't have an Outback here.

reply

A Kanamit friend of mine brought over some delicious sliders but he didn't say what type of meat it was. Tasted like pork but not exactly.

reply

Wash it down with a glass of "Instant Smile."

reply

We had pulled pork sandwiches on buns out of all of our left over BBQ'd ribs. I slow cooked the pork the next day. It was so tender. Is that anything like the sliders you had?

reply

I had a friend bring something like that. He gave me the recipe, but I couldn't read it.
