Dare I say it...Where is everybody?

It appears that no one stayed up all night. It's now 6:30 here in the west, so it must be 9:30 in the east. Who else is awake?

reply

I'm back, so that brings us up to what, 3 or 4?

I'd hate to see that the TZ marathon board discussion tradition was over. :(

reply

I wonder if people know where to go. I just found out.

reply

Well, after IMDB shut down their boards I did see a fair amount of people post here. This is why I'm surprised to see this place so empty.

reply

Reddit stole some of us.

reply

I initially registered at Reddit a few months ago, but then I found that they had copied the old IMDB posts here.

reply

This is a lot better. Almost like the old board.

reply

Hello All/

I took a look at Reddit trying to find some TZ discussion. I lasted about 20 seconds, as usual.

reply

Yeah, I'm the one that created the subreddit, but this place is way better so I abandoned it and came here.

reply

I had to work, unfortunately. Seems like I always miss the marathons due to work.

reply

Yes....everyone from Imdb has been spread across all corners of the internet. The only way to get more here is to go to the other sites at let people know this is more like imdb and many threads have been saved...but after 5 months I'm afraid it's just not gonna happen...

reply

I still have faith. But where else could people possibly be? Like you said, this one is practically identical to IMDB.

reply

I just spotted one marathon post at TMDB, so I mentioned MovieChat in my reply.

reply

I'm watching. The one Battlestar Galactia ripped off is on now.

reply

Third From The Sun?

reply

I should have said ONE of the ones BG ripped off. The one with opposing soldiers Adam and Eve crashlanding on Earth.

reply

I am here! I did watch many of the episodes today .... on and off. The TV was on TZ all day. It still is.
We are just in and out of the house. When we are in, we stop and watch.
This is tradition! It must not end!

reply

Hey, east coasters, what ep are you watching now?

reply

I'm watching Talking Tina torment Kojack.

reply

Yes, and "Stopover in a quiet town" was on just before.

reply

That's what drinking and driving will get you.

I shudder to imagine what Bob and Millie Frazier's life would have been like once they discovered where they were.

reply

I was thinking the same thing. That giant little girl is definitely going to tear some limbs off. Talk about your effective don't drink and drive campaigns.

reply

Brilliant idea to put another great doll episode after this one.

reply

I noticed they've paired some up. Earlier they had two "buy youth" episodes - Trade Ins and Short Drink From a Certain Fountain. I like it.

Now only if they had Midnight Sun on when it should be...

reply

They also paired up "Time Enough At Last" and "Penny for Your Thoughts" (both bank episodes). And in the episode right before that, McNulty robs the bank.

reply

"The Midnight Sun" was one of many great episodes they inexplicably omitted.

reply

And they included some episodes this year that could have been discarded in favor of Midnight Sun and The Masks.

reply

There's a reason "The Bard" and "The Incredible World of Horace Ford" are not included in the marathons often while "The Midnight Sun" and "The Masks" have become staples.

What was especially upsetting for me was the exclusion of "The Hitch-hiker." Each marathon I eagerly anticipate it. A marathon without it is just not the same.

reply

You are so right. That is essential. I'm surprised it was left out. Well maybe not, it is Syfy we're talking about.

reply

Yeah, I guess you can't expect too much for SyFy. This is the same network, after all, that trimmed the transformation scene in "The Howling Man" so it could make room for more ads devoted to stuff like "Blood Drive."

reply

I honestly feel Syfy hasn't for a long time given much thought to what its commercial intrusions do to the effectiveness of TZ . I think they just hope to capitalize on those who only watch just essentially TZ on the channel, looking to perhaps gain an audience for the content they truly care about...their own

reply

They should treat with a little more care a show that made so much of their own content possible.

reply

This has turned out to be great! People complain that there isn't enough traffic to get conversations going here on this site. I guess it takes a marathon of a beloved show like this to bring people together.
I know that this is not quite the way it was when we all got together for these on IMDb, but this is the best time I have had on this site. Talking with everyone here has been so nice.

reply

Hopefully NYE will be even better!

OOh - After Hours. I love this one. We had an old department store downtown with as many floors and I used to think it took place there...

reply

Anyone here ever been on an elevator with an operator? I know I never have unless the haunted mansion at Disney world counts.

reply

YES! After Hours is one of my favorites! We also had a department store much like this when I was a kid. The mannequins disturbed me after I saw this. I always wondered if they were watching us while we shopped!

reply

Fantastically creepy and poignant.

reply

Hello Tristan_Booth. I'm still here. It's nearly three o' clock in the morning where I am on the east coast.

reply

I'm still here at the moment. It's midnight, but the episode is "The Dummy" so I switched over to Alfred Hitchcock Presents. I'll probably go to bed soon, even though there are good ones coming up.

reply

Cliff Robertson happens to make this episode so good in my book.

reply

I much prefer "A Hundred Yards Over the Rim." I actually met him once, very briefly. He was good friends with Congressman Mo Udall, and I was an intern.

reply

Wow. That's pretty cool (being an intern and meeting Mr. Robertson). I've listened to some of his commentaries for the episodes he starred in and he seems interesting enough.

I like "A Hundred Yards" though I'll always fancy the creepier stuff more-- especially when it's done as well as I feel "The Dummy" is.

reply

It's lonely over at this hangout: http://twilightzonewor.fr.yuku.com

reply

I'll pay that a visit sometime.

Where else can I go for "TZ"?

During the marathons Twitter is very active.

reply

I don't know, is there a Facebook group?

reply

Yes there is.

Have you primarily frequented The Twilight Zone Café?

reply

So far yes, but then it got real quiet. Maybe everyone did move to Facebook but for God's sake don't let the IMDb fools know that and give them reason to gloat over social media being the way to go for entertainment discussions after all!
