Actually, almost every show on that list doesn't belong. Who really wants another Fantasy Island? But The Twilight Zone has already been rebooted twice, and the results were generally not pretty.
And the list lumps The Twilight Zone with Night Gallery, which is borderline blasphemy!
It is being revived a third time, if you weren't aware. Some sort of interactive experience.
shareAnd the list lumps The Twilight Zone with Night Gallery, which is borderline blasphemy!
Because The Twilight Zone was an outstanding show, but even Rod Serling himself thought Night Gallery was awful.
shareTo me, a reboot can be warranted if: (1) an outstanding show was left incomplete (e.g. Star Trek); (2) a borderline show, can be brought back and done in a better manner than before (e.g. Night Gallery).
I remain convinced to this day that if Night Gallery had lived up to the promise of its excellent pilot episode, it could have been such an amazing series -- instead of what it was.

Never say never...
I think the only way the twilight zone could be rebooted is finding some old stories locked away like the old series did and adapt them. Also get writers who love science fiction, supernatural and morality tales. Place the substance in the work not the look of the actor.
shareAgreed. Also, in my own opinion, this show should be done in black and white. Modern audiences probably wouldn't go for it. But b&w set the tone for the moody atmosphere. The focus should be on the story and not bright colors which intrude.
Doubtful they'd ever do it though.
They did "Sin City" in black and white and people loved it.
There's a black and white version of "The Mist" that quite a few people prefer to the original.
Watch Mojo has a list of 10 movies not originally shot in black and white that nonetheless work very well in black and white.
If a "Twilight Zone" reboot was done in black and white, and done exceedingly well, I believe few would complain.
The trouble with all these "Twilight Zone" reboots is exactly this: As each successive one is made, it puts us further and further away from the original. Every 10 to 15 years somebody will redo something – the cycle will literally never end. Ever consider how many of Serling’s teleplays didn’t make it to film – just because a sponsor or a network exec didn’t care for the idea? The most effective way to keep Serling’s interest quotient up would be to choose stuff that he wrote and film it as scripted. Sure, it might be dated (like “Noon On Doomsday” for example) but at least it’d be something the viewing public has never seen before.
The version of "Noon On Doomsday" that *did* air remember was basically gutted and rewritten first.
