was Alien a remake of this?

it's been a while since i saw this, but i remember thinking that Alien is so close to this film as to be a remake. it even has details like having to go into the air ducts after the alien and killing it finally by opening an airlock. the two films seem as close as the Thing and it's official remake. it's also surprisingly scary for a film of this era.

Alien was a blatent rip off. But that happens all the time in art.

Oh please. Alien is much more unique movie - 100x better acting, more unique creature's lifecircle, better everything

reply

Its obvious that its a direct ripoff.....when I first saw Alien its the first film that came to mind.....

Truth? You don't need much brains to blow out a monster into space. Alien is 1000x more original. End of story!

Irina, (if that is your name/gender) if you like Alien, its ok.

Nothing would change that, but ridley scott is a rip off artist. Alien was the first, but not the only one...

Blade Runner is a rip-off of "Alphaville, une étrange aventure de Lemmy Caution" (1965). By the way, maybe a terrific sci fi movie but is pure c&ap next to the novel Do Androids Dreams of Electric Sheep?, because ridley scott focus on a subplot of the novel, not the main plot, which is empathy between living beings.

Gladiator, c&ap of a movie, is a rip off from "The Fall of Roman Empire" (1964).

I can keep going but I dont want to. ridley scott is a rip off artist. Period.

reply

If not a direct re-make, certainly a rip-off.

More like the inspiration. Head script writer Dan O'Bannon supposedly quipped:

"We stole the idea for this from everybody!"
