holy smoking hot Elizabeth

Elizabeth Taylor is beautiful in this movie. This and Giant is the hottest she has looked in her days. Is there any other flicks when she looks sexier then she does in this one? Let me know cause I would like to see them as well. So to recap, in my opinion, Elizabeth has never been hotter then she is in this flick. What does everybody else think?

Lol, we were just saying that EXACT same thing just a few minutes ago. She was never lovelier than she was in this film. Stunning.

Hi Jinmbean,

I've been watching TCM since its inception in 1994. It's the only channel I ever have on, lol. It's my comfort food of the TV world. I wholeheartedly agree with you about TCM. :)

We were watching it while it was airing, while you were. But I have seen this film probably dozens of times. I'm always happy to watch it.

The writing is just amazing. How Burl Ives didn't win his Oscar for this performance I'll never know, but he did win for another that same year, so he did get his nod.

Elizabeth was perfection in this film, both in her beauty and performance.

I am 53 and my bf is 65.

Thank you for making a connection. :)

i think she was breath taking in Suddenly Last Summer and in Raintree County! and i also think she was really beautiful in A Place in the Sun! she had many beautiful moments :)

She was very attractive in this film. Most memorably in the scenes where she has to change her sockings and when she is preparing herself for Big Daddy's party. Her physicality at times made it hard to concentrate on anything else.

It depends on which Elizabeth Taylor you like. Teenage Elizabeth ("A Date With Judy" "Cynthia" "Little Women" "Conspirator" "A Place in the Sun") is gorgeous. Young Leading Lady Liz ("Rhapsody" "The Girl Who Had Everything" "Love Is Better Than Ever" "The Last Time I Saw Paris") has many charms. Great Big Star Liz ("Giant," "Raintree County" "Cat" "Suddenly" Butterfield 8") is smokin'--though her weight began creeping up. Not in "Cat"--she was too shattered by Todd's death to eat much.

Then, there's Just Get The Hell Out of the Way Liz ("Cleo" VIPs, "Sandpiper" "Virginia Woolf" "Taming of the Shrew") She is verging on matronly, but still plenty hot. After, there were both good and bad moments, often in the same film--hell, often in the same scene! She was ripe in "Reflections"...an unintended riot in "Boom"...intentionally funny in "X Y Zee" Thinner than she'd been since "Cat" in "Ash Wednesday." I like all the Liz's, each decade, each look, each pound, hairpiece, caftan.

And if you want a really good look at her body, check out 1973's oddity, "The Driver's Seat." She is not supposed to be glamorous and is photographed harshly, but she is in great shape at 42, and shows it off in several scenes. It ain't "Cat" but it's still a mighty attractive woman!

I don't think Elizabeth Taylor or Paul Newman ever looked better than in Cat. That couldn't be said if this movie had been made in black and white. A lot couldn't be said about it then.

I read in the Trivia section that it was originally supposed to be filmed in b&w but they decided not to in order to show off Liz and Paul's stunning eyes. I'm glad they did film in color because, I couldn't keep my eyes off of either of them. It's funny when people go nuts over stars like Brad&Angie or Kristen&Robert appearing on screen together; Liz and Paul could give them all a run for their money.

reply

That's true. Serious dramas were still often filmed in black and white, into the late 50s and a little beyond. Hell, even Newman's The Hustler from 1961 was in black and white. It was a directorial decision on the part of Richard Brooks to film in color. It's often said that A Place in the Sun has the most beautiful romantic couple on screen in Montgomery Clift and Elizabeth Taylor. But I think Taylor looks better in Cat.

I agree with you, this is the first movie where i really got to realise how beautiful she was.

She was still beautiful a decade later, but I think she peaked in this film. NEVER looked better.

Seeing the "Stocking Changing Scene" as a young boy firmly established my heterosexuality.

Liz was indeed smoking hot!

This film and Elephant walk. She's absolutely breathtaking in both films.

She was gorgeous in this but I preferred her figure in the 60's when she carried a bit more weight. She is gorgeous in The Sandpiper and the VIP's too

reply

Her skin is like ivory, she's absolutely stunning. Not so much sexy, as completely aesthetically beautiful in every sense of the word. She takes my breath away in every scene, particularly the bedroom scenes where she argues with Brick: smouldering passion personified.

reply

Yes, you'er right!
There wasn't a movie where she looked the "Sooo fine"!
