John and Joan Cusack + Jeremy Piven

They would be great as the actors in the remake. Of course I can probably think of others but John Cusack has expressed interest in the remake and I think it would be sweet given a good script!

I'd like to see Crispin Glover play Hunsecker and Reese Witherspoon play the cigarette girl.

NO MORE REMAKES OF CLASSIC FILMS! WHY FIX IT IF IT AIN'T BROKE?!? There are a million and one new and original ideas out there, yet idiots STILL wanna remake masterpieces, and there's always gonna be audiences equally as daft who'll pay the money to go out and see them! It's a guaranteed box office money maker for the studios, and pap for the paying public who wants to continue to have their wits dulled by what they've already seen!

I think Jeremy Piven would be amazing as Sid Falco.

GMAFB! John Cusack? ROTFLAMO!

I can't imagine the script being as rhythmic and biting set in modern times or in color. I'd love to see it but I don't think audiences would accept characters talking that way these days.

It's a dirty job, but I pay clean money for it.

Wasn't the original pretty sweet with the original script?

This would be the worst thing, up there with a remake of Casablanca. I like John Cusak but PLEEEASE leave this alone. The movie works because of the time period in which it was made. Powerful columnists, the spectre of the HUAC, openly corrupt cops are things of the era. The only things that have not changed are dog like press agents and sleazy politicians, maybe corrupt cops.

It's bad enough they spun a hoakey Broadway musical out of SSoS, but a flat out remake would be ridiculous and probably doomed. As stated above, it's a different era, mood, mentality, ectectect, so if you are going to change the whole essence of the film by modernizing it, why not make an original movie instead? (Oh, right, name recognition...)

Personally, I've had enough of Piven's slick renditions. A successor to Burt? I'm not seeing it...

Remaking this film is such a bad idea one wonders what the folks floating this idea are thinking?

I wish Hollywood would stop plundering the past and come up with something new. I'm tired of the superhero nonsense, please I can see from the better television out there that there are plenty of good writers.

I think the problem is that the suits have taken over and no one wants to take a chance any more.

SSoS WORKS because people took chances.
