Frank’s attraction to Kay seemed to come out of nowhere


Frank rebuffed Kay’s advances repeatedly and gave a convincing explanation that he’d be a fool to make a play for Flood’s girl — because he feared retribution and didn’t want to jeopardize the caper. Then, out of the blue, casually and right under Flood’s nose, he confesses his love for Kay.
