Funniest Scene

I'd say the funniest scene in this movie was when the ship's cook (who was obviously a teenager, despite working for the space navy), asks Robby the Robot to make booze. It's like, he hears that the robot can synthesize anything, and asks for "the stuff." Just the dialogue makes me laugh:

Robby the Robot: Can I be of service, sir?

Cook: Look, never mind the sir, mister, but I'm a stranger on this so called planet and I was just wondering if, well if you could tell me where I could... A guy could get a hold of the real stuff?

Robby the Robot: Real stuff?

Cook: Just for cooking purposes you understand. I take a big pride in my duties.

Robby the Robot: Pardon me, sir. Stuff?

Cook: [Pulls out bottle of bourbon] Oh, just about one jolt left. Oh, Genuine Ancient Rocket Bourbon. See here?

[Robby takes the bottle and empties it into his analyzer slot]

Cook: Well you low living contraption, I oughta take a can opener to you.

Robby the Robot: Quiet please, I am analyzing. BELCH! Yes, relatively simple alcohol molecules with traces of fusel oil. Would 60 gallons be sufficient?

Cook: Gallons?! Mister, I been from here to there in this galaxy and I just want you to know you're the most understanding soul I ever met up with!

My dad still quotes Robby when he says "Quiet, I am analyzing." BURP!!! That had to be the weirdest burp I ever heard, lol!

So the cook got blind stinking drunk the night the Id monster first attacked, and wakes up with NO hangover, claiming it wasn't natural.

I still think Robby was the best character in the movie :D.

For me, the funniest line was:

"Cook: Well you low living contraption, I oughta take a can opener to you."

That was until he got 60 gallons of booze and had a great time getting drunk with no hangover, lol.

Yeah, Cook had no problem changing his emotions on the fly.

I like Robby a lot too. Morbius says he's "just a tool" or something and that he has no emotions, but he clearly does.

To be fair, no, Robbie does not have emotions. He, like all robots, is a machine that runs data and programs. He may display some manner of attachment towards Altaira, but really, he is quite emotionless, throughout the story. Everything he does is motivated by his primary programming: to serve humans. He makes all that booze, because it is what the human wants. He makes Altaira dresses, because that's what she asks for, etc.

Robbie is great. One of the greatest robots in all of science fiction, IMO. But no, he doesn't have emotions.

I thought at first that the robot was going to get drunk or malfunction from the alcohol.
