For me James Dean was too old looking to pass as a high school student.


He looked like he was a young teacher at the school.
To me, he looked even older than his age of 24 at the time.

Well, some high schoolers live a hard life...

But yes, Dean was a little old looking even for his age (back then he was far from being the only one, of course). Still, in the end you can't complain about his casting.

I agree. It is not just him. They all look way too old to pass as high school students. It is actually the case not only with this 50s movie, it is the way high school students are shown in movies all the way up into 80s for some reason. I think the worst is in 70s movies where they all just look way old in every film.

Also this movie is so overrated.
