Felt sorry for Hal (Glenn's younger brother)

Seemed like he wanted it all to go easy with quick money and book out, Glenn keeps making fun of him when it came to Cindy. Sure enough yeah he likes her but he isn't the type to kidnap her, rape her or even molest her. He rather wished that she liked him as much as he liked her. The scene where he sees a group of young adults getting in a car, he wished he could be among them but bet he felt like he wasn't good enough to run with that crowd even with a girl like Cindy.

Yes, I think that was to show what he could/should be doing, what he's missing out on. He's only a young man and he has to hide out instead of going out with a nice girl. Was he a murderer too? He had a nice leather jacket he picked up somewhere along the way. haha

I also felt sorry for him. I believe he felt a bit ashamed at what they were doing too.
I remember that scene where his older brother Glen asks him, "Didn't I learn you every thing? Well, didn't I?"
Hal says, "Yeah. Everything but how to grow up in a house like this."

Yes, I remember that line too. I felt very sad for the younger brother. The other men were "hard", especially the really mean guy, the one that killed the garbage man. I recognized that actor but I don't know his name. He was excellent in this as an evil man. I remember him mostly playing a family man in movies.

I agree (even two years later) Dr Mac. Robert Middleton played Kobish. He was a splendid character actor. One of my favourite roles of his was as Gary Cooper’s cheerful “Methodist” neighbour in Friendly Persuasion.

He also seemed to have the most conscience considering how he seemed nervous, and as mentioned not wanting to hurt anyone. Also when he was in the phone booth he automatically shot the officer when he saw him, when he hadn't been ID'd yet. This shows he was in a state of panic and not taking things as lightly as the other two seemed to.

In the book, he was an epileptic. Glen had always looked out for him.
I have no idea of what Hal had done to land in jail, but I assume that he had been with Glen when he was caught, tried and sentenced.
