I watched this on a big mob movies collection ( Most of them are crap )and the imdb ratings were much higher than the others so I decided to watch this.

I saw it on a ten movie pack as well, however the pack was called "Hardboiled crime" - some interesting movies on there, of the nine I have seen this is so far the best.

This is going to sound silly... buuut...
I was watching an episode of "Whose Line is it Anyway", and one of the games is "Film Noir". I didn't know what Film Noir meant, so I looked it up on Wikipedia and a scene from this picture was the example picture at the top of the page. I clicked on the Wikipedia page and then came here to see that it was rated quite well. So, I decided to check it out.

I recorded it on my sky plus, went to watch it, but pressed delete by accident. So now I'm downloading it. Hopefully it's a copy of the film and not something dodgy.
shareThe director, Joseph Lewis, actually came to the George Eastman House in Rochester, NY to introduce his film Gun Crazy (also titled Deadly Is The Female). The theater at the Eastman House had a retrospective of his films and this was one of them. I always wanted to see Lewis's My Name Is Julia Ross and that's why I went to see all three films. It must have been the late '90s. I remember hearing a few years later that he had passed away. He was an interesting man and even though he was quite elderly he answered questions from the audience. Of the movies he made, he said Gun Crazy was his favorite.

I first watched it back in the 1980's while on a Med cruise in the Navy. It was one of a few films available for rental on VHS in our ship's library. I just checked it out of the ship's library and we watched it one night in my shop on the ship. Figured that with Lee Van Cleef in the movie it had to be okay.
shareBorders Books was going out of business and I got a sweet deal on Hollywood Hoodlums boxed DVDs. "The Big Combo" was in it and I watched it last night.
Totally hooked during the opening credits by that languid, swanky noir musical score. The dialogue... "Book me, Small Change," I mean, how can you not love that? The lighting was intriguing and the shots very artistic. What a wonderful little movie! :)
Researching on John Alton cinematography in film-noir for an assessment and saw that iconic screenshot everywhere on the internet. Thought it looked rpetty good so I hired it out and certainly wasn't dissapointed; among my favourite film noir and one of the best shot films I've seen.
shareI finally read Alton's book on cinematography and decided to check out his notable works. Plus, Netflix has it on instant streaming now (so-so quality, in between a low-grade DVD and a good VHS), so it was a no-brainer.
