How crazy is it that

A 1950's movie can still inspire fear and amazement so many years later? I remember renting this movie in the 80's on VHS and being scared and loving it. Now so many years later watching it again and enjoying it even more and being even more emotional towards it so many years later! The people in the 50's were so melancholy that it makes it so much more creepy! I hope this is released on Blu Ray because I would love to own this wonderful movie.

That is so true. In a film world dominated by CGI, that this movie can be so creepy/scary/terrifying is amazing. Just goes to show a good story beats effects every time.

It is bad to drink Jobus rum. Very bad.

I don't know if it's out on Blu-ray, but I found a DVD copy at Barnes & Noble.

The sound effects alone induce shivers, and what a beautifully shot movie?

Would buy a Blu Ray Day 1.

Yeah, it's a good movie with some creepy alien spaceships. However, people in the '50s were no more melancholy than people today (or 5 years ago). I know this to be true, because I knew many of them and was actually one of them myself.

The vessels & the corresponding creepy alien sounds do indeed inspire amazement & fear. They're beautiful (shaped like colossal swans) and yet utterly threatening at the same time. Even better, the flick doesn’t skimp on showing the aliens up-close-and-personal and they’re even better than those in the 2005 reimagining (the one with Tom Cruise).
