Tokyo Story or Still Walking ?

I personally love Still Walking. I think Koreeda takes the best elements of Tokyo Story but ensures that Still Walking is better paced and more enjoyable. Though credit to Ozu for his Pillow Shots, which give subtle power and emotion to both the stories.

Which of these two movies did you like better ?

Never heard of Still Walking, but I went to the IMDb page. Thanks for the unintentional recommendation!

I never wanted to watch Tokyo Story but then the other week I watched Still Walking and found it amazing so after reading that it has similarities to Tokyo Story I finally decided to watch TS and while it was good in in some parts I agree with you that Still Walking is much more enjoyable.

Still Walking is fantastic, but not quite on the level of Tokyo Story.

You're right, Still Walking is not on the level of Tokyo Story, it's a lot better. Still Walking is one of the greatest movies ever made. Tokyo Story is not nearly as good and Ozu had at minimum 5 better movies than it.

Still Walking is a fine, moving film … but Tokyo Story is an out-&-out masterpiece. It may not be quite as easily accessible for modern viewers as Still Walking, but it's a film that contains depths. And those depths just grow deeper over time, especially as we grow older & watch it again.
