Ending was great.. Just how I wanted!!! SPOILER

Many other 'Hollywood' endings would have ended the opposite way. Congrats to Roman Holiday for keeping it real.

I agree. I loved the ending. We all wanted those two to end up together, but there is no way it could have worked out. The ending is beautiful and bittersweet.

Is it okay if I do it for mom and not you? 'Cause I really like mom.

I always prefer films that don't have a "happy ending." They're more realistic and more relatable. There should be a better mix in Hollywood. Life mostly sucks, doesn't it? :P

I agree.

Those last few minutes, I was waiting for the ending to do what 99% of all films do...and it didn't!!

It was one reason why I had to buy it, because its ending defied normal convention.

I usually prefer those films where the couple has a great time, but are unable to stay together, and have to part...but are left with the memories of their time together.

"Thanks, guys." "So long, partner."

I was also waiting for the Princess to run up to Peck. I do prefer a happy ending though.

Much like Casablanca this was a happy unhappy ending , the character Rick from Casablanca and joe from RH , both grow as men they both do what's right putting aside personal gain for what best for literally the world.
