I enjoyed the movie and I think everyone in it did a great job. But, in all honesty, I don't really watch movies thinking in terms of awards; what they won; what they should have won; what they will win, etc.
Awards are decided in relation to all the movies that are released and the performances given within a particular year. Having not seen the other movies and performances that were eligible that year, I don't feel I'm in the position to judge whether or not this movie or any of the actors were the right choice to win.
Even if I had seen all the movies, I would be watching them from where I sit today in 2015; sixty-two years later and far removed from the emotions of the time or the emotions the movie may have stirred in those audiences back then. Many factors go into what makes a movie great. I'm not saying that can't be determined years later, but to attempt to rewrite history makes little sense and, I feel, is wrong.
