the best version of a Christmas carol?

its up there for me
thoughts?

It's an excellent version, I still prefer the animated Sims' version from 1971 and the George C Scott version.

i am watching it for the second time in a week

I would absolutely consider this the best version.

To be honest it's not my favorite. I like it a bit but they went way too much into his past. I liked the extra bits with Marley that aren't included in other adaptations but I feel the death of his sister is better left mentioned in dialog than showed and the scene of him and Marley buying out Fezziwig's business wasn't neccesary. It's better for Scrooge to just be shown being cruel at the beginning without adding in him screwing over his first employer.

Yeah, but Scrooge didn't screw over his first employer though - Scrooge simply left Fezziwig for more money and a potential for advancement with Jorkin's company. Fezziwig was rich, and (in this story anyway), was offered a lot of money to sell his company but he declined to do so.

Sorry. It's been a long time since I watched it. I grew up watching the George C Scott Christmas Carol.

I grew up with Alastair Sim, and then (to my shock and amazement), loved the 1984 George C. Scott version even though I went in not a fan of Scott and not expecting much from this version, but it's great.

What 1984 gets particularly right is having Belle married and with a family as the book describes.

I watch both versions every year.

This one, by far.
