Does anyone else want to strangle that kid?

Just saying.

As someone born and raised in Washington DC in the 50's the most annoying thing about the kid was that he was wearing a Yankees hat, and not a Senators hat.

I think that most of these movies are the products of their times. I think that children in the 1950s probably were kind of like that kid and I think that is true in a lot of these 1950s movies. It was just a different era of time so to a modern audience it just seems strange.

Yeah I wanted to strangle that little sh**. Sure sure he follows Mr Carpenter to the ship. Sure sure.

I love Billy Gray in this role. The only part of his performance that I didn't think came off right was when he "traded" his $2 for Mr. Carpenter's diamonds. The script must have told him that "Bobby" acts sheepishly as he asks Mr. Carpenter not to say anything to anyone about the trade because his mom would consider it stealing.

But he still goes right ahead with the trade! LOL!

No way! The kid was great - an excellent part of this classic film.

No. This kid was a joy compared to the one in the remake...or the son in Spielberg's remake of War Of The Worlds...or any kid in any Spielberg movie for that matter.

Billy Gray portrayed Bobby exactly as a child of that generation (i'm that old) would have. And the fact that he snuck out at night, and followed Klaatu is something that a curious kid of that age would most certainly have done, if he thought he could get away with it.

Good kid. Good writing. Good acting.

Why do you pronounce it of-Ten when you don't say lisTen or sofTen or fasTen?
It's just "offen"

reply

No. In fact I've always thought that Billy had more common sense than all the adult characters put together!

Laugh while you can, Monkey Boy!

Agree on all counts. It's too bad kids in today's movies aren't like Billy.

The kid I wanted to kill was Jaden Smith in the remake.

Fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy night.
