this gbennet guy...
Good God man. How much of this do you watch a day, and how long have you been doing it???

shareOh what's the problem? lol He happens to be a big fan of the show. He loves to discuss it. So do I. We all have our hobbies!
To quote Fred Mertz ("Lucy Does the Tango"): "Thanks, Ethel." Lol!
sharehaha I just wish there was a "gbennett" type who liked to discuss the other shows I love! Shows like Dick van Dyke (not you of course! I remember that you don't like it very much), The Munsters, The Honeymooners, etc.
shareI LOVE "The Honeymooners" and, of course, "Bewitched." I also enjoy "Mary Tyler Moore" and even "Rhoda." I
also love "Get Smart."
One show I always loved (and even attended the tapings of on occasion) is "The Golden Girls." But I go through
long periods (like right now) where I'm fried on the show, and simply don't watch it.
I get in a Honeymooner mood sometimes and watch several episodes in a row. Norton always cracks me up even though I know the episodes by heart.
I've bought several seasons of MTM. I haven't seen the show in years and I almost forgot just how hilarious Ted Knight was as Ted Baxter.
I love Rhoda too. I started watching some of the episodes on youtube. I hadn't seen the show for a long time. A great cast but Nancy walker was a standout. She was a tiny woman but a HUGE scene stealer. lol She could get the biggest laugh from just a few words or a gesture.
Yes, Nancy Walker is the BOMB! (and a clear "inspiration" for little Italian Sophia on "The Golden Girls."
Walker could do so much with a simple, throwaway line.
Here's a favorite exchange (please note I'm paraphrasing Mary's line, but NOT Nancy's (Ida).
MARY: "Oh, Mrs. Morgenstern, I'm sure Rhoda's just running a little late. But it's her wedding,
and I know she'll make it, and everything will turn out just terrific."
IDA (taking Mary's hand) "Oh, Mary...You've been like a daughter to me. So, shut up." Lol!
Interesting, Nancy Walker appeared on The Golden Girls as Sophia's sister. The two characters were at odds and always arguing.
Ida was hilarious. One of my favorite episodes is the one where Rhoda meets Joe's ex-wife Marian. When Rhoda hears her mother's voice at the front door, she asks Marian if she knows the worst thing that ever happened to her.
Marian says "No" and Rhoda replies with "I do." lol
Ida was funny the way she thought it was a good idea for Marian to get remarried. "What are you? Thirty five? Better push the merchandise while you still can."
Remember the time when Ida cleaned Brenda's apartment? She told her that now she knows where Brenda keeps everything.
She repeats "everything" for emphasis and Brenda looks guilty. No other actress could make me laugh so hard by saying just one word.
Yes, "Rhoda Meets the Ex-Wife" is HILARIOUS.
IDA: Getting a little stinko, Darling?"
I also love when Ida starts questioning MARION'S date:
IDA: "You're right, Rhoda, I shouldn't have asked him such a persona question."
(pause)
"But since I did, why don't you answer me?" Lol!
I also love Julie Kavner, who, despite her winning an Emmy, and this series putting her on the map,
she has remained quite detached from.
To me, thought, the show is DEAD when Rhoda and Joe divorce. Big mistake.
Yes, I thought it was just lazy writing that they could not think of funny situations for Rhoda and Joe!
For one thing, i think Ida as a grandma would have been hilarious. As bossy as she was with her daughters, could you imagine her as a grandmother?
