Today was my first day watching Born Yesterday, and I was actually very interested to see Holiday's performance, thinking I'd be blown away...boy was I wrong. I can't believe she won over Bette Davis.

Gloria Swanson should have won because her role in Sunset Blvd is simply one of the most iconic in film history. But Holliday's also terrific and well worthy of the second prize in 1950.

Love Bette Davis but really ALL ABOUT EVE has to be one of the most overrated films ever made, all posing and utterly phony. Never cared a hoot for any of these insincere characters. Margo is not remotely a multi-faceted part on the level of Billie Dawn who runs the gamut. Gloria Swanson's Norma Desmond is the best of the three admittedly but Judy is absolutely brilliant in this film and it's sad that so many Bette or Gloria fans refuse to let this tragic young woman have her golden moment in the sun when Davis and Swanson had so many triumphs over the decades.
