How old to people tend to be when they grow out of Ayn Rand?

I've known a lot of Rand fans in their teens and twenties, but they usually grow out of it. Is support for AR's bonkers ideas incompatible with adulthood?

...I have only read The Fountainhead by Rand,
and I'm not overly familiar with her Objectivism philosophy.
gg-uninstall displays commendable honesty
by prefacing his articulate and thoughtful post
with a confession of ignorance
regarding the topic of discussion.

any doubters of gg-uninstall's ignorance,
have it confirmed
as he opines:
To the Objectivists of this thread,
however, I want to say this:
if you expect to read a book to improve and give meaning to your life,
you are no better off reading Paulo Coehlo.

What an obnoxious, rude, and ignorant thread. I refer to the original poster, not the whole body of respondents (which is WAY too vast for me to read through).

Personally, I'm 46, and, while I disagree with her on a few points, on the whole I still largely agree with her. And you are cordially invited to keep your personal attack insults on *me* to yourself. Never mind philosophy, try to display some *manners*.

I came to Rand when I was 35. A decade later I still agree with most of her tenets.

I don't know about anyone else, but I read The Fountainhead when I was 12, and fell in love with Ayn Rand's writing and philosophy. I realized within a couple years that the philosophy wasn't that great, but to this day I find her writing exquisite.

Ayn Rand is an American cultural phenomenon. I'm certain academic philosophers have reservations about calling her ideas philosophy.

And the reason why her ideas are so popular is exactly because they are so simple.

Never argue with an idiot. They bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Holy jump’n jehosifats, 200+ posts? Its going to take me as long to read this as it did the book!

Oh, I’m 58 and I’m still quite enamored with Miss Rand!

She was a junkie of the printed word. Fortunately, I manufactured her drug of choice!

It's no masterpiece, but I thought Vapor Trails was pretty decent.
