Apparently the film has an average shot* length a little over 7 minutes or so... This film has only 10 shots... The pacing is unlike anything in current movies...
It really helps with maintaining the tension...
*I mean the average length from one cut to the next...
I noticed that... The trackless camera dolly's bouncing kept reminding me. That, plus the weird transitions with someone's back filling the screen... or finally the trunk lid doing so.
I took those screen blankings as an excuse to reload the camera or otherwise re-set for the next shot.
I also took those as places where a curtain would fall during the original play.
That many? I used to think it was three but decided it was 5.
It is one of AH's best, IMO. I rank it better than Psycho and Vertigo (both of which I find to be way overrated)
