Where Can I Buy Poison Labeled 'Poison'?

There's a scene where the heroine goes to her kitchen counter and right there between the condiments and other kitchen ingredients is a small bottle labelled 'POISON'.

I have seen household cleaners with a warning label telling you not to ingest this stuff because it's poisonous, but I've never seen a bottle labeled 'poison'.

Perhaps in very small amounts, instead of killing you, it adds zing to your meals.

I loved this movie, but damn, did I hate this scene! 

And who would put poison on the kitchen counter, anyway, right next to the herbs and spices?

It's a genre/gender thing. It's how they do, it's in the rule book.

When I was a kid in post WWII UK, small local pharmacies (we called them "chemists") sometimes issued poisonous substances in bottles with a label stating POISON in red block capitals, while the pharmacist would enter the name of the product and instructions in ink onto the blank area beneath.

Found a similar American example online:

Acme has discontinued supplying POISON, due to objection by the American Ornithological Society about possible environmental hazard to Geococcyx spp. But never fear, here's your best sources:

POISON 'R US (on the high shelves, out of the reach of children)

The POISON Store (Great selection, reasonable prices)

Ye Olde POISON Shoppes (also a great vintage lace department)

Home POISON (affordable items for the do-it-yourselfer)

POISON POISON POISON (Yes, they have it)

Upchucks (co-located with Starbucks)

Mr. Yuk's (a little creepy because the clerks all have sour slightly green faces)

Hope this helps. 😊

A lot of poisonous stuff used to be labeled "Poison". Also, bottles containing poisonous substances were triangular, instead of round, so even blind people would know.

I had a chuckle at that. It reminded me of the kid's refrigerator in "Repo Man," with cans labeled "Food" and bottles labeled "Drink."

Maybe the producer didn't want to give someone ideas of what to use.
