(SPOILERS, OF SORTS) Oh, sure-- I remember reading that Minnelli made a kind of history with his long, unbroken shot of the extinguishing-the-lights sequence, and how almost the entire 'Autumn' chapter centers around Margaret O'Brien, and how it nicely segued into the main dilemma of the film- the announcement about New York; and then finally mom and pop singing 'You and I' at the piano (even though Leon Ames was dubbed by Arthur Freed). All in all, a very nice package. I like to record it and just skip to my favorite parts: the long-distance call at dinner ("HELLO, WARREN!!"), Halloween, all of wintertime, 'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,' attack of the snow people, and so on.
