Yes, I know it's a classic but I couldn't buy Fred MacMurray and all his "You bet I'll get out of here, baby" schtick. He din't want the part in the first place and for good reason.

And did Billy Wilder really have to have vertical blind shadows in every indoor scene?

All I know is, once you watch this movie, you'll never see "My Three Sons" the same way ever again!

THIS. Exactly this. Had the same problem with the Caine Mutiny.

One of the better film noirs I've seen. The only problem is that it's sooo typically film noir, it's a little comical at times, a bit like a parody.
