As with most films in the 40s, the acting was terrible.

The dialogue is artificial.

The characters are just caricatures with no depth whatsoever.

It's so boring.

Yeah, it's overrated.

It's not one of my favourite films, my taste runs more to comedies. But there's nothing wrong with the acting that I can see. The melodrama is piled on rather thick though. But then you get that in modern films too.
