Everyone thought it was boring

Just watched this for the first time in a film study class great movie. I seemed to be the only one in the class that liked it. The rest of the class said theh were bored to tears.

Most kids these days don't appreciate old movies.

There are two types of people who enroll in film study classes. Ones who genuinely want to learn something, and ones who are simply after an easy A. Don't let it dishearten you. 

Your classmates probably only go for CGI action/fantasy films.

Tell me....did they enjoy Transformers 4? If so, and they are in film study class, then I weep for the future of cinema. In either case, people who can't appreciate Casablanca are not fit for film school. I'm watching it right now, and it's as great now as the first time I saw it.

It's a beautiful film between 2 people

It's a beautiful film between 2 people

And as Woody Allen might have put it, between five people it is fantastic.

It's true that there are those who find it boring on first view, go home, and then discover that certain scenes and bits of dialogue are haunting their lives.

I wouldn't discount the film ... and I wouldn't immediately discount all the members of your class. Some of them might need a bit of mental-taste-bud adjustment.

I personally think the film speaks loudly for itself, but might need a few viewings to be appreciated - especially for a generation for whom every joke, nuance, and clue is explained, dissected, and hammered into one's consciousness. Critical insight takes some time to develop.

Congratulations to you for having an open and appreciative mind.

Congratulate yourself on being far more mature and aware than your classmates. They're to be pitied.
