Bambi vs. WallE

Last year I watched Wall-E and thought it was a near perfect film. For its plot, deep themes, and easy watchability despite the sparse dialogue, it struck me as brilliant ... and I haven't even mentioned that Wall-E somehow ended up being one of the best romantic stories I've seen in years (animated or otherwise).

Last night I watched Bambi for the first time as an adult and was blown away. I loved the symmetry of the opening and closing scenes. Has any movie ever told the story of growing up better? With fun, heartache, love, death. All of the things that turn us from free spirited kids to responsible adults are in this movie. Bambi truly is the story of life. Unbelievable.

These have to be the two best animated films ever made. I just can't decide which is better!

I honestly don't think Wall-E is Pixar's best. I would go with The Incredibles or Toy Story 3. With that being said, I would say Bambi is the greatest animated movie ever with Pinocchio, The Lion King, and Grave of the Fire Flies coming close behind.

WallE falters the moment it introduces its human characters. Before that it's enchanting.
