Pastoral is the only one that I don't like. The music is brilliant as Beethoven always is (remarkable for someone that was deaf), but I found the segment quite childish.

6. Night on Bald Mountain/Ave Maria
(The maudlin religious sentimentality of the close ruins it.
Aside:Both times I saw this in a theater, small children were crying during Night on Bald Mountain.)

7. Toccata and Fugue in d Minor
(nice try, but dull, setting the bar low at the start works well)

First five are very close and almost completely interchangeable.
It is a challenge to fairly separate the popularity of Sorcerer's Apprentice from its actual and considerable merits. I am not a fan of Mickey Mouse, but it does
not matter that much here since he does not speak.

The last two are clearly inferior in my opinion.

I recommend anyone who has seen this to hunt up Allegro Non Troppo. The animation technical effect is a cut down to be sure, commensurate with budget differences. But the conception of what is drawn and the writing is excellent, for adults (not committed to convention and orthodoxy) not children.

The schtick and referential jokes around the segments in place of Deems Taylor, Stowkowski talking to Mickey Mouse, etc. is fine satire.
