Mr Smith punching people?

Sorry if this seems an incredibly stupid question, but what was that scene where Smith was walking around punching people all about? I assumed it was some kind of angry fantasy or dream but there seemed to be no resolute end to it. Clearly a US senator couldn't and wouldn't go around punching people.

I'm trying to get all of the IMDb's top 250 watched, so I gave this movie a whirl...

When I got to the fisticuffs, I decided it was time to turn it off...

What a waste of a film...

Yes! Yes! You've found it out!

A movie that's consistently rated as one of the top films of all time is a waste of film!

You're the one that's smarter, more intuitive and more insightful than millions who've seen and enjoyed it!

Kudos to you!

No need to get so hostile toward someone with a differing opinion. Chill.

reply

Hostile? Me?

Nope.

I'm about as "chill" as it gets.

But thank you for your comment, self-appointed-board-policeman/woman.

It's too bad they don't do this often today. I think it would keep people in line. And you won't have so much of this nonsense being spewed openly with no repercussion.

One would think that would be cause for removal but the reporters seem to take it lightheartedly. Who's held in more contempt than politicians? Back then, a man being hit and complaining about it was acting like a wimp. To sue or call the cops would make the reporter look bad.
