I once read that 45 minutes give or take were cut from the film. Of course, the old expression "left on the cutting room floor" meant exactly that. Unfortunately.
The cut footage was literally scrapped. It's almost a crime it wasn't preserved - imagine a "director's cut" with the restored footage.
I'd say it could go three hours.
