I never get tired of this movie!

I just watched this movie again. It's one of those rare films that gets better every time.

I agree - Godfrey pushing Cornelia into the ash pile and then telling off all the useless people at the party (The man is priceless - I've been wanting to say that all night!) the Mrs. Bullock pixie scene, Mr. Bullock throwing Carlo out and then Mr. Bullock's hurt bemusement when Godfrey fixes his grave financial problems, Cornelia's contriteness. My only quibble would be that Carole Lombard, in reaching to be a free spirit, strikes me not as immature but downright retarded at times. She's still lovely to watch and that looks like genuine affection for her ex William Powell.

I disagree with Lombard's character being "retarded". She was more child like, which is not suprising considering her upbringing. But refering back to the topic, I watched this film for the first time today and it lived up to expectations.

It is one of the many social comedies of the period which perfectly portrays the rich as sadistic and idiotic, I am always intrigued by these types of films as I feel they satire the social issue well.

Totally agree. This was one of the first classic movies my dad introduced me to as a kid and it is still in my collection. That family is just so lovably nutty!
