I never get tired of this movie!
I just watched this movie again. It's one of those rare films that gets better every time.

It_is_a_Secret deleted the message, so now I can't respond. I read it earlier, but did not have time to answer. Yes, I guess we knew each other before. It's nice to see you again!

She brings a preacher with her to get married! It's really a cute movie.

NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
The person presiding at the "wedding" was the mayor who was just happening to be dining at the club, and Tommy Gray sent him in as he left (possibly as a practical joke), without the knowledge of either Irene or Godfrey
That's the important thing!

Yeah, this movie is damn good.
My ex-gf showed it to me. Quality stuff.
William Powell is awesome.
I agree with you!

I agree! Carole Lombard is such a great comedic actress. Saw this for the first time in maybe 1986 and can't count the number of times I've watched it. My VHS taped actually broke from rewinding it so many times. Luckily DVD arrived.
I complain that "they" can't make a comedy today w/out using toilet humor, but I really don't think any actress today could pull off the kind of performance Lombard gave with out looking like a bad actress. I don't think they'd look genuine.
I love the old movies that can be funny without four letter words and nudity. Carole Lombard was so great in this movie.

I agree. It's definitely my favorite Powell film. I could watch it over and over and it is always just as great as the first time I saw it.
"All you need to start an asylum is an empty room and the right kind of people." - My Man Godfrey
I watch it once every few years and I always enjoy it. I read about it in film books for years before I had a chance to see it in the mid 1980's and it's one of the few films that I've heard so many great things about in advance that didn't disappoint me when I finally saw it.
shareI read somewhere that the movies that turn out to be life-long favourites seem to grow on you. I'm sure I saw Godfrey as a youngster and probably liked it. Last year I bought a used DVD copy of it. Watched it and loved it. Put it on the shelf. Last week I watched it again. Yesterday I watched it again. Today I watched it again. Everything about it is amazing. Has a film ever been so perfectly cast? Godfrey, the Bullocks, wonderful Molly the maid. The crowd at the party, the forgotten men, the cops, everyone. The script, direction, sets and oh, the costumes!
Not every movie has a thread titled "I never get tired of this movie!"
I think Godfrey is an addiction and I do not want to be cured.
Yes, sir, I'm going to do nothing like she's never been done before!
I just bought a DVD of MY MAN GODFREY and I watched it again yesterday, even though I'd seen it many times and the last time was only a few months ago. I think this is one of the best cast movies ever and well deserves it's status as the first film to have a nominee in all four acting categories for the Academy Award. I think Gail Patrick and Eugene Pallette should have been nominated as well!!
