Paulette Godard

In my opinion Paulette Godard is the most beautiful woman ever on screen, particularly in Modern Times.

Do you agree?

She's my favourite actress...woman..of all time
Amazing face..energy,spirit ..everything..there isn't another like her she had such a personality off-screen!

Hollywood isnt home but it sure is purdy

She is stunning, but I don't think she looks like Courtney Cox or Molly Shannon as some have said. To me the thing that sets her apart and makes her more breathtaking than 99% of other actresses is her "spirit" as another poster pointed out. You can see it glistening in her eyes, even when she isn't sharing the screen with Chaplin (for instance the scene where she is stealing bananas).

Her being so fun is what really makes the performance, and yes she's very cute.

The only other comparable fun and pretty performance from that time is Maureen O'Sullivan as Jane Parker in Tarzan and His Mate.

Were she (at that age, from that film) alive today, she'd easily blow the latest "It!" hotties away.

EASILY!!

So charming in modern times as the gamin.

She was gorgeous in this movie. For an actress in the mid 30s, her hairstyle and appearance was very modern looking and for that reason she's gorgeous by any decade's standards.

Man, and those cute little feet of hers....biggest turn on since Betty Rubble.

To me (in this film anyway) her face reminded me of Alicia Silverstone, especially when she was in the police car.

I re-watched the movie yesterday, and once more I was stunned by how incredibly gorgeous and sexy Paulette was. She was one of the very few classic stars whose beauty and appeal are timeless, since she could be considered beautiful even nowadays. Loved her acting, too; very natural and full of energy and dynamism. She was certainly one of a kind.

A couple of weeks ago, I saw her in "Diary of a Chambermaid", made 10 years later (1946), and she was still gorgeous and smoking hot.

Yeah, she was stunning. Being portrayed as poor, dirty, and barefoot couldn't take away from her beauty in this film.

Yep - Chaplin should've married God(d)ard, or something like that.
