Second time watching and I still cannot connect with this film.

I love Hitchcock. For me this film is a swing and a miss.

The pacing was too slow.
I didn't care for the actor who portrayed the protagonist.
The typical hints of cheekiness that usually spice up his movies fell flat in this one.

It took two tries to finally make it all the way through. It was an effort that didn't have a satisfying payoff.

Ridiculous.

I just watched it for the first time and I must say I didn't much connect with it either. I mean, it was reasonably entertaining but I wasn't terribly impressed. I know, since it's and old movie and a Hitchcock movie no less, I'm supposed to give it high ratings. But I'm going to stick to my subjective, uneducated opinion and give it 6 out of 10. No, I don't like Transformers.

yeah, about one scene i enjoyed, pretty surprised too how deserted this board is considering it's a hitchcock flick, how unusual with a certify sign before the movie starts as well as having the cast credited twice, several of the early hitchcock films seem to take place on a train, like "the lady vanishes" and "strangers on a train" for example, the scene with the van looked like a miniature, spoiler here, what a shocker as the lead got shot, since you've got in mind hitchcock killing off the female lead in "psycho" (1960), you kind of thought that was it for this guy, one strange scene was the long outdrawn shot of the car driving off, i found much of this incredibly slow, but the suspense increase by the running, an unintentionally funny bit perhaps were the faces they made in the hotel, that also includes my favorite scene of the movie where she starts trusting him and they are drawn closer together, how about that bit as fell asleep by murder stories, and notice they left the candle on, bit weird how she bothered to put stockings on as she thought of escaping, you get a lincoln vibe at the end of this, and as it was getting close to the end i thought please don't end like this, because i got reminded how abruptly hitchcock films can end and you're left wanting more.

thought summer was lost,
grey skies flowers gone,
cold hollow n dull,
suddenly a burning desert i got placed on,
exotic heat caused beat of honky heart,
fillin head with dirty thoughts,
been starving stuck in drought,
fed mushrooms drinking from your well,
rescued summer as you came to stay.

It's a great movie. Too bad the OP can't enjoy it.

Bizarre. I found it surprisingly fast paced, tense and witty.

The film is nearly a century old and it’s so much more alive than the sterile 3-hour borefests we get now.

One of my favourites of Hitchcock's. I think the time flies by, and I really like the lead actor in it.
