Van Sloan's epilogue

So is there a transcript of what was originally said in the epilogue? The film just seems to end too abrutply for my taste. I love it regardless.

Also wondering what happened to Lucy?

Conquer your fear, and I promise you, you will conquer death.

According to the audio commentary on the Legacy Collection DVD, there's a scene in the script where John and Van Helsing visit her tomb. John shudders outside of the tomb while Van Helsing drives a stake into her heart off-screen. Apparently, this was too much for the censors at the time to allow.

If you watch closely, Van Helsing and John are exiting the graveyard when they spot Renfield escaping to go meet Dracula.

Okay, now that you mention it I think I remember that scene. I'll have to watch it again.

Thanks for the feedback. I just have the old bare bones DVD that I picked up years ago.

That is very interesting. I'm sure you're not here now, but thank you. The lack of resolution about Lucy in this has long bugged me.

In most modern versions the staking of Lucy is one of the best scenes for me.

Yea it almost feels like there is a missing reel.

Maybe its just the cliffhanger for Dracula's Daughter lol.

I've seen it on DVD and the commentary didn't mention a different ending. They say thank you and all that.
