best vampire movie ever

we all think that right. yeah it has flaws but come on the atmosphere, the sets and of course the acting. Lugosi is outstanding of course but everyone was good in it. Edward Van Sloan, David Manners and especially Dwight Fry and Helen Chandler .
not just the best Dracula movie but the best vampire movie. Noosferatu was good both the Shreck and Kinski version. same thing with Let me In, Near Dark, Intervieww with the Vampire, Lost Boys. all great but this one takes the prize.

i told you not to stop the boat. Now lets go. Apocaylpse Now

The first couple reels absolutely reek with a malignant atmosphere. If only the rest of the movie had maintained it. Once the stage play takes over the movie quickly runs out of steam.

For my money, the best Dracula/vampire movie is Hammer’s Horror of Dracula (American title). It perfectly captures the blood, sex, and damnation of being a vampire.

If not for Bela this coversation is not happening. Nuff said.

I always thought House of Dracula from 1945 was the best vampire movie ever

I’ve always considered Horror of Dracula to be not only the best Dracula movie, but also the best VAMPIRE movie.

I disagree. I like this movie but it is incomplete. The whole premise of Lucy as a vampire doesn't get resolved. They state in dialog and even briefly show she's a vampire but they never go after her. Then Mina gets abducted by Dracula and the plotpoint of Lucy being a vampire is forgotten. I know this is because of the budget getting cut due to the great depression but it is still a big flaw. Bela Lugosi was great as Dracula but like I just said it's flawed because of that. An even bigger flaw is they didn't even bother resolving it in Dracula's Daughter. Maybe that movie instead should have been titled Dracula's Bride and been about trying to find and destroy the vampire Lucy.
