He was a starting NFL quarterback and he was pretty good in the beginning. Yes, people knew who he was. Once defenses figured him out, his NFL star started to wane. He was a second-teamer at the end. Then he got involved with a crazy woman that polluted his mind, and the rest is history.

Regardless, the sentence is much too harsh and I support the G trying to bring her back. What bothers me is that other Americans are in Russian prison and the media is not trying to help them.
What people get twisted though is they look at it through the lens of the American justice system. The sentence is harsh by American standards but America doesn’t set the standard for the rest of the world. She was tried and convicted and sentenced to 9 years based off the Russian judicial system. The same system a Russian citizen would be charged under. The fact that a 9 year sentence would be ridiculous in American courts is irrelevant
