Camila Cabello’s Racist Instagram Post May Be The Reason For Shockingly Low 'Romance' Tour Ticket Sales
Camila Cabello’s career may be in hot water. The singer’s recent album "Romance" and tour of the same name have not met the predictions of her record label. In fact, Cabello has been in the media for all the wrong reasons lately. While her relationship with Shawn Mendes has been a positive thing for her career. The "Never Be The Same" singer recently issued an apology for a few racist comments she made online during her time with the girl group Fifth Harmony.
Cabello was accused of using the N-word towards former bandmate Normani she issued an apology about being accountable for her action. Unfortunately, in Dec, 2019 before the dust could settle on the scandal, old social media posts resurfaced of Cabello saying some pretty horrific things about African Americans and Asians. She also re-posted a few memes that were racially insensitive. She even had the audacity to re-posting a meme about Rihanna’s abuse at the hands of Chris Brown. So not only is racism funny to her, so is domestic violence. The singer is now being forced to have to answer for her actions.
One could say that karma is a b**ch though, it seems as though those old posts have come back to bite the singer in her rear end. The Havana singer’s latest album "Romance" was released in early Dec 2019 and while she has a hit with the single "Senorita" featuring her man Shawn Mendes, the album has received mixed reviews. Yet, Cabello and her team jumped full force into a tour for the album, riding high on the fanbase's excitement and possible potential in the coming weeks. Unfortunately, the tour sales are doing just as lackluster as the album sales. Not only is the singer having to prove she is worth the ticket price, but she also has to prove that she feels some sort of remorse.
The "Romance" tour that is set to begin in Oslo, Norway in May 2020 isn’t filling the arenas the way the singer and her team assumed it would. The North American tour has only sold about 50 percent of the seats. This is a far leap from Cabello’s first solo tour, the "Never Be The Same" tour. Some are even speculating that Cabello’s whole career could be in jeopardy. The singer is accused of being old enough to know what she was saying and the backlash she would receive for her comments from some of her followers.
The singer is saving face by staying active on social media and even issuing an apology for her past offensive posts. Starting off her apology by saying “when I was younger, I used language that I am deeply ashamed of” she continued on to explain that she has grown tremendously. “I’m 22 now, I’m an adult and I’ve grown and learned and conscious and aware of the history and the pain it carries.” Unfortunately, the damage is done, and it seems as though Cabello’s career is facing the repercussions. Let's see what the coming weeks brings for the singer and her tour.
